Fast Footwork

When we ask a youth soccer player who their favorite soccer star most of them will answer Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s not a coincidence most people really like these players. Messi and Ronaldo are the 2 players with the best foot skills in the world. Both of them are always in control of the ball and have the ability to pass defenders using their skills (moves). The Fast Footwork classes are based on being in control of the ball and use skills (moves) to pass the defender. The basic skills of the best players in the world are the foundation of the Fast Footwork classes. The goal of learning these skills is to be comfortable with the ball and dominate the defender in a 1 versus 1 situation.

What is taught in this Class

There are 3 levels in the Fast Footwork classes. In each level the basic principle is the same, but the difficulty is different. In the Fast Footwork 1 class we are focusing on using the moves without too much pressure. The pressure is the ball, the move and changing the direction. We start with learning different moves to change into different directions. We will teach the players moves to make a turn and go back, to go to the side and to pass a defender in a forward direction.

In the Fast Footwork 2 class we will add some more moves the curriculum. The added moves are more difficult than the moves learned in the Fast Footwork 1 class. We also increase the pressure. This will make it a lot harder for the players. They will have to step up their game and use everything they learned in the Fast Footwork 1 class to be able to learn the new things we teach them in the Fast Footwork 2 class. Moves to make a turn and go back, to go to the side and to pass a defender in a forward direction are also in this class. The key is to become more confident with the ball and learn how to dominate the defender in 1 versus 1 situations.

Fast Footwork 3 is the highest Fast Footwork class we teach. In this class the players will learn how to use all the moves they learned in the previous Fast Footwork classes under full pressure. One of the main focuses in this class will be how and when to change direction. When should you make a move, turn and go back? When to use a move to pass the defender in a forward direction?

All Fast Footwork classes are focused on individual development.

Who should do this Class

In the Dutch philosophy every attack starts with the goalkeeper or at least a defender. We think building up from the back is better for the development of the players and much more fun for them. To be able to build up every players need to be comfortable with the ball. This is one of the things players will learn during the Fast Footwork Classes: Being comfortable with the ball. Every player on the field should be able to use a move to keep possession of the ball. In our philosophy every player should have the skills we teach in the Fast Footwork classes.

Because of the methodical way we developed the classes the players should have the skills taught in the previous class to proceed to the next class. The player could have learned these skills during the class or elsewhere. As a general outline we advise the following ages and playing experience for the Fast Footwork classes:

Fast Footwork 1 – Age 7 to 10 or 1 to 2 years of Travel/Classes experience
Fast Footwork 2 – Age 10 to 12 or 3 to 4 years of Travel/Classes experience
Fast Footwork 3 – Age 12 and up or 5 years or more of Travel/Classes experience

Because the class focuses on individual development a difference in age does not affect the learning experience in our classes.
